It wasn’t until I went through several injuries, surgeries and difficult recoveries that I became more aware of the mind/body connection. I relied heavily on a massage therapist that I thank everyday, recognizing how much her work helped the outcome of my healing. She also showed me how trust was an important part of this process.
Working with my horses over the years brought me closer to the power of touch - again as a tool in communicating intention and love.
Pain and stress are one reason to seek massage. But the massage therapist is also a witness to your recovery and emotional journey. As my massage teacher once told me, “Tamee, life is relentless.” And so it is.
Through touch we bring ourselves back to the reminder... Pain is a sign, stress is a result, calm is achievable… Breath is necessary...
Injuries often occur when we need to stop and listen. Massage can be critical in helping the body age with issues of arthritis and circulation, lymphatic drainage and muscle plasticity.
I am a firm believer that massage is not a luxury, but a tool in our health tool box, along with good food and spiritual awareness. The body has the ability to heal itself.
As a massage therapist, I am simply the facilitator in this part of the mystery.

This West African icon, called Sankofa
(translating to "go back and get it")
represents our ability not only to
learn from our mistakes, but to fix them.
It is indeed easy to err,
and in the quickest passing of a moment.
May we have the
attention,
compassion,
and wisdom gained
to heal our body, mind, & spirit.
